Turning Satellite Operations into an Intelligent System

At ICEYE, we are moving beyond "scripts on laptops" and manual workarounds. We are building the Customer Operations and Satellite Planing Hub: a centralized, AI-native platform that serves as the brain for our Customer Excellence team.

As an Applied AI Engineer, you won’t just be "training models" in a vacuum. You will be the architect of our transition from reactive troubleshooting to Intelligent Automation. Your goal is to eliminate the "human middleware" in our Email-to-Order flow and build the tools that allow our operators to manage a growing constellation of satellites with superhuman efficiency.

Your day-to-day responsibilities

• Design Agentic Workflows: Instead of writing linear scripts, you will build multi-agent systems (using frameworks like LangChain or CrewAI) to handle complex operational tasks like feasibility study requests and order extraction.
• Architect the COSP Hub: Lead the development of our internal "Managed Platform." You’ll ensure that AI isn’t just a chatbot, but a core component that automates data validation and incident triaging.
• Build Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) Systems: Create "Technical Oracles" for our operators. You will build systems that allow CE to query thousands of pages of satellite tasking rules and legacy documentation in natural language.
• Bridge the "Beta Trap": Move high-impact prototypes out of the "Shadow IT" phase into production-ready services that are auditable, scalable, and resilient.
• Process Mining & Intelligence: Analyze our current operational bottlenecks (like manual email processing) and design AI-driven solutions to solve them at the root.

Requirements

What we’re looking for

Must haves:

• You are an "AI-First" Builder: You look at a manual process and think "How can an LLM/Agent handle the reasoning here?" rather than just "How can I write a regex for this?"
• You are a Product-Minded Engineer: You care more about the outcome (e.g., reducing order entry time by 50%) than the specific library you use.
• You understand the "Glue": You know that AI is only as good as the data it touches. You are comfortable working with APIs (Salesforce, NetSuite) and Python-based backends (FastAPI/Streamlit) to make the AI useful.

Technical Profile

• Applied LLM Expertise: Deep experience with LLM orchestration (LangChain, LlamaIndex, or similar) and advanced prompt engineering.
• Modern Python Stack: Mastery of Python for application logic and automation.
• Vector Infrastructure: Familiarity with Vector Databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, or FAISS) and embedding strategies.
• Systems Thinking: Experience moving projects from a local script to a managed cloud environment (AWS/GCP).
• Pragmatic ML: You know when a simple heuristic is better than a transformer model, but you know exactly how to deploy the transformer when it’s needed.
