The Embassy of Japan in Ukraine is seeking a detail-oriented, proactive, and reliable Local Assistant Analyst to join our team in Ukraine. This is an entry-level analytical role suited for individuals with a strong understanding of local dynamics, good research skills, and the ability to support operational and reporting functions related to security and situational awareness.

Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
• Monitor and compile daily air raid and security incident reports
• Conduct area and mission-specific risk assessments to inform operational planning
• Perform open-source and local-source research on security events, regional developments, and contextual risks
• Respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) from mission staff in a timely and accurate manner
• Assist with data entry and maintenance of internal reporting systems and databases
• Establish and maintain a network of local sources to enhance situational understanding and ground-level awareness
• Support ad-hoc analysis, translation, or briefing tasks as directed by Embassy staff
Required Qualifications:
• Ukrainian citizenship or valid local residency/work permit
• University degree in Political Science, Security Studies, International Relations, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in Ukrainian and English
• Demonstrated knowledge of local security dynamics, regional developments, and conflict-affected areas in Ukraine
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work under time pressure
• Proven ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
Preferred Qualifications:
• Previous experience in research, journalism, security analysis, or working with international organizations
• Familiarity with analytical tools or GIS systems
• Experience in drafting reports or conducting briefings
