Responsibilities
Optimize BigQuery performance, identify and resolve inefficient queries, and implement best practices for data processing at scale Analyze SQL code for antipatterns and perform refactoring to improve query execution, cost efficiency, and maintainability Develop and implement strategies for BigQuery storage optimization, including data partitioning, clustering, and archiving Collaborate extensively with various data teams to understand their pipelines, identify optimization opportunities, and provide guidance on efficient BigQuery usage Provide mentorship and support to data engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement in data pipeline efficiency and quality Develop and maintain documentation for BigQuery optimization techniques, best practices, and standard operating procedures Participate in code reviews, ensuring adherence to BigQuery optimization principles and high-quality SQL code standards Design, build, and maintain optimisation-related BI dashboardsRequirements
5+ years in data analysis or BI—ideally within network security, cloud operations, or a SOC environment Strong proficiency with SQL (BigQuery dialect), including complex joins, window functions, CTEs, and performance tuning Comfortable building and maintaining ETL pipelines (Airflow, Bash, Python) Hands-on with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, Looker, Grafana) Good understanding of data lake and lakehouse concepts, partitioning and clustering Familiarity with data catalog/governance platforms (Apache Atlas, DataHub) and Git for schema/version control Skilled in data profiling, cleansing, and enrichment techniques to ensure high-quality inputs Strong problem-solving mindset, attention to detail Good communication skills—able to translate complex data into actionable business insights in EnglishWhat's in it for you
