Description and will be considered for the screening, shortlisting and selection of candidates.Desired Candidate Profile Operational contextThe Ukraine operation is a dynamic one with the operational footprint centered around two main objectives - reduction of the burden of war and meeting basic needs, including promoting access to vital protection services, as well as early recovery and durable solutions to people affected by the ongoing war. UNHCR Sub-Office Dnipro covers 6 (six) eastern oblasts and is among the top regions in the country in terms of the number of IDPs, war-affected people, and returnees.Desirable CandidateThe Protection Associate will need to have experience working in mixed settings, including working with IDPs, war-affected populations, and returnees, and have a solid understanding of the UNHCR’s footprint in situations of internal displacement, particularly its cluster lead responsibilities (Protection, CCCM, and Shelter/NFI) and response in complex emergency settings with a focus on recovery and durable solutions from the start. S/he desired to have field experience and be adept at operationalizing protection and committed to promoting the meaningful participation of IDPs, war-affected people, and returnees in UNHCR programs. S/he will also need to have a good command of English and reporting skills and a proven interest in protection analysis and advocacy. Given the operational context, the position envisages constant interaction with UNHCR partners and people we work with and for to ensure a comprehensive approach and build the capacity of partners and regular field missions.The following skills and competencies are desirable: strong interpersonal/ communication skills, experience working in collaboration with local authorities, and experience working in a competitive inter-agency environment while demonstrating UNHCR’s added value.
