Job Description:
The User Experience (UX) / User Interface (UI) Design Specialist shall support the project “Just transitions in vulnerable places” in their efforts to developing map-based web applications and urban data platforms for evidence-based and participatory decision making in line with the Sustainable Development Goals and the New Urban Agenda, focusing on communities in Ukraine and Namibia.
Scope of Work:
-Support product development and user testing activities, for example: prepare research plans that outline study goals and methodology, evaluate different, contemporary, and needs-based UX concepts and design variations, develop discussion guides, create information-gathering artifacts.
- Work closely with technical and coordination team to improve and implement design elements that create user-friendly products and services that help users and meets their needs.
- Consider the end-to-end user journey and external factors that may impact the user experience including business, policy, and technical constraints.
- Communicate research findings and involve team in analysis and synthesis to develop empathy with the users and enable evidence-based design decisions.
- Visualize through diagramming, journey mapping, storyboarding, or information design to help others see the end-to-end and surface-to-core service and customer experience.
- Develop and maintain technically implementable design systems and style guides.
- Design UI elements for both web and mobile devices, support of the technical implementation of the frontend
- Contribute to user manuals/guides for the developed digital tools.
Competencies:
Bachelor's or higher degree, UX/UI Design, Media Design, Interaction/Communication Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Web Design, or a comparable field of study, or its equivalent in education and/or work experience.
Experience:
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in UX/UI design, with a strong portfolio showcasing your work
- Proficiency with relevant design, prototyping and collaboration tools: Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, InVision, Axure, Adobe Creative Suite (particularly Illustrator and Photoshop), Zeplin, Abstract (or similar for design handoff)
- Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Basic understanding of version control systems like Git
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and an interest in finding technical and innovative solutions for urban development issues.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, contributing to an agile development process and interacting with frontend developers, data scientist, and other team members.
