Purpose
As part of the Ukraine Investment team, you will carry out EIB lending and guarantee operations that support EU development and cooperation policies with Financial Institutions in Ukraine taking end to end responsibility for their identification, appraisal, negotiation, approval and follow-up until first disbursement.
Operating network
You will report to a Head of Unit based in Luxembourg on all matters, including your use of time, leave and professional travel, and the alignment with your role as per your job description and your objectives. You will also have a reporting line to the Head of the Regional Hub for Eastern Europe (Kyiv Office) in what concerns adherence to EIB best practices in terms of conduct, support to the EIB’s institutional mission in the region, but also regarding security, safety and wellbeing.
Accountabilities
Contribute to the identification, appraisal, approval and signature of suitable projects with Financial Institutions in order to develop a portfolio of operations in line with the Bank’s objectives and guidelines, and ensure the consistent application of EIB policies and proceduresMaintain and foster relationships with Financial Institutions and other relevant stakeholders in Ukraine supporting deal origination and management of the portfolioCarry out project due diligence with examination of sector data and information, detailed analysis of financial proposals and transactions (structuring and cash flow modelling) and counterparts (financial statement analysis of financial institutions and corporates);Keep abreast of market and relevant sector developments and provide briefings to HQ;Upon request, represent the EIB at stakeholder events and participate and contribute when required to the operational activities organised by the Kyiv Office (events, team meetings, preparation of publications/presentationsParticipate in initiatives that go beyond the boundaries of lending/investment domain, such as intra-directorate working groups.
Qualifications
University degree (minimum equivalent to a bachelor) in Finance/Economics or other business related disciplineMinimum three years of relevant experience in the banking, financial or development sectorGood knowledge of financial analysis as well as proven experience in credit risk assessmentGood knowledge of processes and procedures related to the administration, control and monitoring of lending operationsKnowledge and work experience with the region would be an advantageExcellent knowledge of written and spoken English. Any other EU language and/or Ukrainian would be an advantageKnowledge and work experience with the region and the specific country(ies) related to the post would be an advantageGood knowledge of standard computer toolsStrong diplomatic and communication skills are essential
