Communications Advisor will support the SAFEMed project through planning, design, and implementation of all communication activities. Based in Kyiv, Ukraine,Communications Advisor will report to the Chief of Party and supervise the work of a contracted designer.LOCATION: Kyiv, UkraineMain ResponsibilitiesImplement Communications strategy: Effectively document and share impact of the project to key audiences.Provide ongoing strategic advice and input on communications strategy and tactics, including coordinating closely with US-based communications team and the technical, MEL, and operations teams on the project.Ensure the smooth and timely development, editing and dissemination of monthly newsletter for SAFEMed project progress; the preparation of success stories, highlights, and other communications materials related to SAFEMed’s work in collaboration with technical teamsWork with designer in the creation of compelling and content-rich visual assets (e.g., infographics, cards) that are in line with project and USG Branding and Marking guidelines.Partner with technical teams to implement communications activities with government counterparts, including negotiating scopes of work, ongoing monitoring with technical staff, troubleshooting issues, and reporting outcomes.Help select communication vendors, work with communications agencies on specific communications activities. Support ongoing coordination to ensure high performance of our vendors.Partner with MSH Communications team to design and implement a social media strategy.Actively collaborate and coordinate with other USG funded projects, government agencies, NGOs, and other organizations on communications issues; keep abreast of latest development and professional norms, standards, tools, and methodologies.Program Support and ReportingParticipate with the Chief of Party in the development of SAFEMed work plans and budgets as they relate to communications activities.Contribute to all quarterly, annual, and ad hoc budgets and reports on SAFEMed activities for USG, MOH, or others, including contributing to strong visualization of results and progress.Establish and implement standard operating procedures, mechanisms, and relationships for the collection and organization of information, knowledge, and experience from the project and its partners, as well as for its documentation and distribution through relevant channels.QualificationsREQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATIONRequired: Bachelor’s degree (or MA degree) in communications, journalism, public relations, social sciences, or related field.RequiredREQUIRED EXPERIENCEA minimum of five (5) years’ experience in communication, journalism, public relations, or another relevant field. Experience in journalistic writing and demonstrated ability to translate complex concepts into easily digestible communication materials.PreferredPrevious experience working on USG or other donor-funded projects.Familiarity with the health sector in Ukraine, including recent healthcare reform developments, policy formulation and implementation processes, and relevant stakeholders.Experience working with the Ministry of Health or another line ministry.Network in Ukrainian media and familiarity with the media landscape.Knowledge And SkillsStrong interpersonal, analytical, and advocacy skills.Skills and knowledge to write cogent technical reports, documents, and power points in English and Ukrainian.Experience with graphic design, with special emphasis on infographics.Excellent spoken and written English and Ukrainian.MSH is an equal opportunity employer.
